DESIGNER'S NOTES A floral Fox & Chave silk chiffon silk scarf with elements in blue green after an illustrative work by Jane Loudon featured as plate 26 in ' The Ladies' Flower Garden ', published 1842. This design features blooms commonly known as Morning Glory from the family Convolvulaceae . Jane Loudon (1807-1858) was initially a science-fiction novelist and the writer of The Mummy! , (1827), before becoming a pioneering English writer and botanical illustrator, after marrying horticulturist John Claudius Loudon, and was best known for popularising horticulture among Victorian women. Her most influential works include The Ladies' Flower-Garden series and Gardening for Ladies (1840), which combined accessible language with beautifully hand-coloured illustrations. These books made gardening approachable for middle-class women and helped reshape domestic roles through education and art.
