Suzani Blue Silk Habotai Scarf
Description
DESIGNER'S NOTES A distinct Fox & Chave silk habotai scarf with a Suzani pattern in shades of blue. From the Persian Suzan , meaning needle Suzani is a description for a type of traditional textile design from Central Asia. Suzani textiles traditionally produced by Uzbek, Tajik and Kazakh women, served as both functional objects and expressions of familial identity. Hand-embroidered with silk threads on cotton or linen, they featured sun and moon motifs, pomegranates, tulips and stylised vines, often given as dowry pieces to mark marriage and lineage. The act of stitching was a communal and ceremonial practice, transmitting aesthetic knowledge across generations. In modernity, Suzani have become global symbols of artisanal craft and cultural heritage, influencing interior design, fashion and contemporary art. Collectors prize them for their bold colour, intricate composition and symbolic resonance, while designers reinterpret motifs, connecting centuries-old tradition with modern visual culture and cross-cultural dialogue. COLOURS STYLING A Fox & Chave habotai silk scarf can be worn with the classic knot style or a pussycat bow.
