DESIGNER'S NOTES A unique Fox & Chave silk chiffon scarf with a geometric repeat pattern and spotted border by the British contemporary artist Cressida Bell (b.1959) who is known for her textiles, wallpapers, and decorative objects that bridge fine art and applied design. Bell is the granddaughter of Vanessa Bell and great-niece of Virginia Woolf, placing her within the famed Bloomsbury lineage, though she has forged a distinct path. Her style is characterised by bold, hand-drawn patterning, vibrant colour palettes, and rhythmic, almost musical repetition, often recalling Matisse, Art Deco, and African or Indian textile traditions more than the painterly softness of her grandmother. Unlike many descendants of the Bloomsbury circle, she avoids direct pastiche, instead translating influences into a contemporary idiom of luxury and whimsy.  In her early career she designed for Zandra Rhodes, honing her command of flamboyant pattern.
