Victorian Blue Lace Chiffon Scarf-FC-24-363
Description
DESIGNER'S NOTES A blue Fox & Chave silk chiffon scarf with a design derived from examples of lace typical of the Victorian period. Lace making in Victorian Britain thrived as both a cottage industry and a luxury craft, valued for its association with refinement, femininity, and social status. Handmade lace, such as Honiton, Chantilly, and Brussels styles, was prized for bridal wear, court dress, and fine household linens, while machine-made lace from Nottingham and other industrial centres made decorative trims more affordable to the middle classes. The era's fascination with elaborate ornamentation saw lace used extensively in fashion, accessories, and interior décor, often symbolising delicacy, propriety, and the virtues of the ideal Victorian woman. COLOURS STYLING There are many ways to style a Fox & Chave chiffon silk scarf including the basic drape, belted drape and reverse drape. Our chiffon silk scarfs look really good worn in the bandit knot or faux infinity style too. More scarf styling ideas are available in this wonderful How to Tie a Scarf book.
