DESIGNER'S NOTES An oversized Fox & Chave silk habotai wrap featuring a repeat floral pattern in the style typical of Iznik ceramics produced in the town of Iznik, Turkey, between the 15th and 17th centuries. A hallmark of the Iznik style is the stylisation of plant forms, tulips, carnations, hyacinths, and saz leaves, rendered with elegant curves and rhythmic patterns rather than naturalistic accuracy. This stylisation reflects both Islamic artistic conventions, which favoured abstraction over realism, and the influence of Persian and Chinese aesthetics. The aim was not botanical accuracy but spiritual harmony and decorative beauty. By distilling nature into idealised forms, Iznik artists created a sense of paradise, aligning with Islamic themes of divine order. The flattened, symmetrical compositions enhanced their function as architectural tiles and vessels, creating a unified, meditative visual experience. COLOURS STYLING A Fox & Chave habotai silk wrap is a large oversized item with fabulous versatility. It can be draped around the neck as a scarf or worn as a shawl over the shoulders providing a bit of warmth on cooler evenings.
