DESIGNER'S NOTES A bold Fox & Chave silk chiffon scarf in dramatic shades of vibrant blue and green, featuring stylised leaves, branches lizards and a few butterflies from an oil painting entitled Vegetation by the Hungarian contemporary artist Tamás Galambos (b.1939) Galambos was born in Budapest, and is known for his vividly coloured, surreal, and often whimsical paintings that blend folk motifs with modernist influences. Largely self-taught, he draws from naïve art, pop culture, and Hungarian visual traditions, creating dreamlike scenes populated by exaggerated figures, animals, and symbolic objects. His most internationally recognised work is Summer , used as a cover for the Penguin Classics edition of One Hundred Years of Solitude . Galambos's style recalls Chagall and Bosch but remains distinct in its Central European humour and melancholy. He has exhibited widely in Hungary and abroad, contributing to the post-socialist redefinition of Hungarian identity through art that is both personal and culturally resonant.
