DESIGNER'S NOTES This 'Hokusai Phoenix' poshmina TM stole is inspired by the work of the Japanese painter and print maker Katsushika Hokusai (1760-1849) a leading light of the Ukiyo-e genre of art that came to prominence in the Edo period in Japan from 1603-1867. The striking red, black, gold and green design is after an image of a Phoenix painted as a screen by the artist, and recreated here on glossy satin silk design with the warmth of brushed silk that feels like cashmere on the other.
