DESIGNER'S NOTES An elegant floral Fox & Chave silk chiffon scarf with a repeat design after a study entitled Water Lilies by the British printmaker and illustrator Mabel Royds (1874-1941). Mabel Royds was celebrated for her vividly coloured woodcuts. Trained at the Slade School of Art and later under Frank Morley Fletcher in Edinburgh, she mastered the Japanese woodblock technique, which deeply influenced her style. Best known for her expressive prints of flowers, Indian subjects, and biblical scenes, she often using bold outlines and rich, saturated colours. Her travels in India and the Middle East infused her work with exotic themes and vibrant palettes, setting her apart from her contemporaries. Though her output was relatively small, Royds' prints are prized for their technical precision and emotional warmth.
