De Morgan Peacock and Fishes Silk Habotai Scarf
Description
DESIGNER'S NOTES A unique Fox & Chave silk habotai scarf with a combination of several designs by the British ceramicist William De Morgan (1839-1917) featuring stylised peacocks and fishes in a palette favoured by the artist of blue, navy and green. Despite depictions of nature in his work, in keeping with the ethos of the Arts & Crafts movement, De Morgan held a deep fascination for the burgeoning science and technology of the era. Not just a skilled artist; he was also a prolific inventor, creating various mechanical devices, including a complex machine for firing ceramics in his kiln to achieve his unique, iridescent glazes. His inventive nature extended to other fields, designing a prototype for an underwater mine detector and even attempting to develop a perpetual-motion machine. Though these inventions didn't lead to practical success, his scientific curiosity fuelled his experimental approach to his craft. COLOURS STYLING A Fox & Chave habotai silk scarf can be worn with the classic knot style or a pussycat bow. You can even create a shawl effect by knotting two scarves together behind your neck and allowing them to drape over your shoulders.
