Klimt Red Face Mask
Description
DESIGNER'S NOTES A courtesy face mask with a bold red design after the main pattern seen in the painting Hope II by the Austrian symbolist artist Gustav Klimt. Gustav Klimt frequently explored the cycle of life, examining birth, growth, sexuality and mortality through allegorical and symbolic imagery. In Hope II (1907-08), he confronts maternity and the tension between creation and mortality: a pregnant woman dominates the composition, encircled by a rich tapestry of patterned forms and shadowy skeletal figures. Klimt juxtaposes sensuality and fragility, suggesting both the promise and precariousness of life. His use of gold, spirals and organic motifs imbues the scene with a sense of sacred continuity, transforming the personal experience of motherhood into a universal meditation on the interconnected stages of human existence, where beauty, desire and mortality coexist. COLOURS DETAILING 3-ply, soft metal nose bridge, adjustable ear loops, and stretch surround.
