Gaudi Mosaic Face Mask
Description
DESIGNER'S NOTES A courtesy face mask with a design after the broken pottery mosaic patterns seen in the Parc Güell in Barcelona, from the design laid down by Antoni Gaudí (1852-1926) The mosaics are crafted from fragments of broken pottery in a technique known as trencadís , which became a hallmark of Antoni Gaudí's modernist vision. By repurposing discarded ceramic pieces, tiles and bottles, Gaudí created vibrant, undulating surfaces that decorate benches, viaducts and sculptural forms throughout the park. The irregular fragments catch light and colour in dynamic ways, producing shifting patterns that appear spontaneous yet are meticulously composed. This method reflects Gaudí's commitment to organic forms and sustainable materials, blending utility and ornamentation. The mosaics' playful abstraction contrasts with architectural rigor, turning the park into an immersive, tactile work of art.
