Klimt Gold Bangle
Description
DESIGNER'S NOTES This classic silver plated bangle features features a gold variation of the polka dot pattern from the painting Hope II (1907-08) by Gustav Klimt. Hope II explores the interplay of life, desire, and mortality through rich symbolism. A pregnant woman dominates the scene, her body decorated with polka dot and mosaic motifs, connecting fertility with spiritual energy. Surrounding abstract patterns suggest both growth and decay, while ghostly skeletons and a partially hidden infant underscore death's inevitability. Klimt contrasts warm golds and flesh tones with cooler, darker shades, creating emotional tension. Drawing on Byzantine mosaics and Symbolist investigations of the subconscious, he employs vertical and spiral forms to evoke cyclical time and enduring life, embedding philosophical reflection within ornamental and decorative sophistication. STYLING The bangle image is a few centimetres in diameter on an open ring. Wear with jewellery of similar scale, such as a simple silver pendant or brooch.
