DESIGNER'S NOTES A unique Fox & Chave silk crêpe de chine scarf with a design after an opulent cigarette case by the Russian Jeweller to the Tsars, Peter Carl Fabergé (1846-1920) The case is crafted in deep cobalt blue guilloché enamel over gold, with intricate gold inlaid ginkgo leaf motifs. The pattern is delicate and stylised, showcasing exceptional craftsmanship. Decorated with rose-cut diamonds, possibly set in silver or platinum, adding further opulence, the design leans towards Art Nouveau, with naturalistic motifs and fluid lines, which were fashionable around 1890-1910. At the time, cigarette smoking was a social norm among the aristocracy. Fabergé cigarette cases were not just functional, they were status symbols, often given as gifts between royals or nobles.
