Van Huysum Still Life Silk Habotai Scarf
Description
DESIGNER'S NOTES A riotously colourful Fox & Chave silk habotai scarf utilising elements from the work Bloemstilleven in een vaas met oor op een piëdestal in een nis (c.1734) abbreviated in English to Flower Still Life by the Dutch painter Jan Van Huysum (1682 -1749). The more literal translation of this floral watercolour painting with additional use of chalk and ink is Flower still life in a vase with handle on a pedestal in a niche, which gives more of an indication of the genre of painting from the Dutch Golden Age, from which it comes. This was a transformative period of artistic proliferation where mastery of light and meticulous realism elevated secular subjects, ranging from everyday domestic life to the breathtakingly precise floral arrangements into the realm of high art. COLOURS STYLING A Fox & Chave habotai silk scarf can be worn with the classic knot style or a pussycat bow. You can even create a shawl effect by knotting two scarves together behind your neck and allowing them to drape over your shoulders. More scarf styling ideas are available in this wonderful How to Tie a Scarf book. Length: 150 cm Width: 33.5 cm Dry clean only 100% Habotai Silk Hand Rolled Hems Made in China
